The Thanksgiving holiday was a bit rough for restaurant worker Nakeea Senegal as his car was stolen from the parking lot while he was working.
Not having a car made it difficult for Nakeea to get to and from work at Ruffino’s restaurant in Lafayette, Louisiana, a job he’s had for five years. It also made it difficult for Nakeea to take care of his family, including his baby daughter.
His co-workers felt bad about his struggles and decided to do something to help him out – so they started raising money for him. They also worked with a local car dealer, who agreed to match all donations, dollar-for-dollar.
Donations added up quickly and the restaurant staff was able to buy Nakeea a reliable car in just a week.
They surprised him – during his shift – with the keys to a 2015 Chevy Malibu.
Nakeea is certainly thankful to have the car, but he’s especially thankful for his co-workers, whom he considers family. Nakeea knows they went over-and-above all expectations to help him and his family out with an amazing early Christmas gift.
