Dawn Veit spends some of her free time as volunteer for a group that protects kids in the court system in Florida.
While volunteering, she has worked with judges, lawyers and police officers – and seen first-hand just how scary the legal system can be for kids.
Her experiences inspired her to help police officers soothe kids while in the line of duty by donating children’s books to the sheriff's office.
These books will be used by deputies and investigators to help comfort young children in traumatic situations.
Dawn’s gift of books is allowing her to improve the lives of kids who might be tangled up in the legal system, all the way from the street to the courtroom.
