Police officers are a tight-knight family, and the Colorado Springs Police Department is celebrating the return of its youngest comrade to the force.
Four year-old Joshua Salmoiraghi, who has been battling stage-four kidney cancer since last year, had his dream granted in April when he was sworn in as an honorary police officer.
But before he could enjoy his time on the force, he had to go through an aggressive round of chemotherapy at the Children’s Hospital in Denver.
The police department was thrilled to announce on Sunday that Joshua finally got to ring the bell at the hospital signalling the end of his chemo treatments, and was therefore back on the force.
The department tweeted a video of the happy moment as Joshua triumphantly rang the bell to a hallway filled with cheers.
