HIKER MOM RESCUES INJURED DOG

A 40-year-old mother of three from Idaho is being called a hero after her motherly instincts kicked in and she saved an injured dog's life.

Tia Vargas was hiking up a mountain when she spotted an injured English Springer Spaniel, all alone and limping around. She wasn't about to leave him there on the mountain, so she picked up the 55-pound dog and decided to carry him back down the mountain on her back.

The hike down the mountain was about a mile long, and Tia admits that it got so difficult at times that she wondered if she'd have to leave the dog behind. But she knew if she did, the injured dog would die.

So she kept on going with the dog on her back. At one point, she had to put the dog in her lap and slide down a snowy slope. Finally, she and the dog made it down the mountain and then to a vet.

The dog, whose name is Boomer, is now living with Tia and recovering from his injuries. Tia believes there was a bigger force at work. She says, "I feel like there’s a reason why I was on the mountain at the very moment that he needed somebody to help. Both of us had a guardian angel that day.”
