FAMILY REUNITES WITH MISSING DOG AFTER THREE YEARS

FAMILY REUNITES WITH MISSING DOG AFTER THREE YEARS

Three years ago, the George family lost their dog, Ginger, near Burlington, Iowa.

They spent hundreds of dollars on ads in an attempt to find Ginger -- but the ads didn't work. Nobody came forward and it looked like she was lost forever.

But Ginger remained in the system, which was great because three years later, Kandi Glick, who happened to be the director of a nearby Humane Society, caught a glimpse of Ginger near a car wash and was able to capture the stray dog.

Ginger's appearance certainly did change over the years, but the George family could tell it was her, and was able to confirm her identity because of a faded purple and lime green collar.

Amazingly, she was able to survive on her own by sticking around the car wash. People emptied the garbage from their cars -- and that garbage was often bags of fast food.

While she was away from her family, she ended up eating very well.

Against all odds, Ginger survived three winters alone in the woods of Iowa -- and is now back home with the George family, safe and happy.
