Because Staff Sergeant Teara Neimyer of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida is the mother of an eight-year-old, she knows very well just how comforting a teddy bear can be for kids -- especially when they're distressed.
With this in mind, Teara was inspired to lead a teddy bear drive to help local police have something to comfort kids they encounter while on duty.
She placed boxes all over the base -- and her colleagues responded in a big way, donating over 1,000 stuffed animals.
Her mission was finally accomplished when she delivered the toys to the Crestview Police Department.
So now, thanks to Teara and all the generous people who also pitched in, local kids will have comfort and a companion when things get bumpy in their lives.
