8-year-old Bridget Kelley is as inspirational as they come. Just as she was starting the second grade, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Not the way you want to start out a school year.
She spent 88 days in the hospital getting all kinds of treatment and then had to receive a stem cell transplant when she didn't go into remission right away.
Fast forward to January 2nd, 2018. After 15 months of treatment, Bridget was finally ready to go back to school. Her classmates, and community, came together to give her a welcome that she will never forget.
As she walked to Merrymount Elementary in Quincy, Massachusetts, she was met by hundreds of students, parents, teachers and even police officers...all holding signs and cheering for her.
