It May Be Back. A Face Mask Mandate Could be Returning to the City of Sarasota. As 3 Commissioner's Want to Bring it Back
Several commissioners in the City of Sarasota have voted to start the process of reinstating a face mask mandate.
A permanent ordinance could go into effect at the end of May, at the latest, if they vote for it during a second hearing.
The vote on Last night (4/5/21) received 3-2 for the reinstatement of the mask mandate.
The city will have at least one more hearing before the mask mandate could be fully reinstated.
Sarasota City Commissioners Kyle Battie, Liz Alpert, and Jen Ahearn-Koch all voted for the reinstatement of the mask mandate.
What will the other two Commissioners do?
Mayor Hagen Brody and Vice Mayor Erik Arroyo, are the other two members, who have votes, when this issue come back up for a vote.
