Sarasota State Senator Gruters Proposes a Patriotic Bill in Florida Senate

Sarasota's Florida state senator Joe Gruters has introduced a bill that would require the national anthem be played at sporting events.

Senator Gruters introduced SB 1298 at the senate commerce and tourism committee, as a proactive approach so that people continue to play it.

If passed, SB 1298 would create monetary fines and contractual obligations for patriotic display by requiring professional teams to play the Star-Spangled Banner before games in Florida, if that team or venue receives state money. .
