Manatee County Student Builds Wheelchair for Her Rescue Dog
Samantha Sokolis is a student at Manatee Technical College who has a loving relationship with her 10-year-old rescue dog, a German Shepard named Chaos.
But as Chaos got older, he’s been dealing with arthritis in his back knees -- which led to him not being able to walk.
Samantha still wanted Chaos to get around, so she worked with a classmate named Tom Boser to design and build a small wheelchair for Chaos.
Amazingly, Samantha and Tom were able to build the device for less than $50. And, thanks to that device, Chaos is now getting around just fine.
The effort was such a success that Samantha and Tom are now making plans to help other shelter dogs through a non-profit organization that they’re going to put together.
