A 13-foot alligator pulled a dog named Loki underwater on Trent Tweddale's Florida farm.
Tweddale, an Army vet, jumped in the river and "started pounding on the gator's head until he eventually let go."
Tweddale suffered minor scratches, but Loki had to undergo surgery after his leg was almost severed.
Tweddale is hopeful that Loki will "regain full use of his paws."
In the meantime, Tweddale has set a trap and has vowed to get revenge on Loki's attacker.
"We love our dog and I'd fight tooth and nail for him."
