Over Next 25 Years About $5 Billion Will Be Spent on Sarasota/Manatee Roads

The Sarasota/Manatee MPO Wants to Know Your Transportation Priorities

Community input gathered in the survey will help decide which transportation-related projects will be funded over the next 25 years.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, SARASOTA/MANATEE, FL (May 28, 2020) – The public is encouraged to share their transportation priorities and Drive The Future by taking a 3-5 minute survey at https://publicinput.com/K420. The survey is open through July 1 and will be used to identify transportation priorities and define which programs and projects will be submitted to state and federal transportation departments for funding.

You can also pinpoint transportation needs at specific geographic locations by visiting https://publicinput.com/R083and commenting on your community needs map.

Why should I take the survey?

In the next 25 years, almost $5 Billion will be invested in the Sarasota/Manatee transportation system. The public input provided in this survey will be used to identify the community’s top transportation priorities, which will shape funding and future transportation plans in Sarasota and Manatee County.

“We are in the final steps of the Long Range Transportation Plan process, which means the public’s opinion is more crucial than ever,” said David Hutchinson, MPO Executive Director. “The MPO has received many comments from the public about transportation projects and priorities. This is your opportunity to tell us about your priorities, share your opinions, and identify what’s important to you before the plan is complete.”

The purpose of the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is to develop future transportation facilities in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The LRTP must consider the full complement of transportation modes – roads, bicycles, pedestrians, trails, transit, parking, railroads, and airports. The plan includes at least twenty years and must be updated every five years.
