Sarasota Police Department Introduces Us to Their New K-9 Officer, Kodak

The Sarasota Police Department took to Social Media to welcome it's newest team member.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, K9 KODAK

Please allow us to introduce you to the newest member of our #SarasotaPolice family, K9 Kodak. We figured his birthday, which is today, is the perfect day to introduce him.

K-9 Kodak and his handler, Officer Paul Gagnon, completed 640 hours of initial training. The training included patrol work, tracking, building searches, area searches, article searches, and apprehension.

K-9 Kodak turns 2 years old today, February 8. He was born in the Czech Republic in 2021 and is a German Shepherd dog. Officer Gagnon joined our agency's K-9 Unit in 2021 and is certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as a K-9 handler. Our agency currently has four K-9s and four handlers.

K-9 Kodak enjoys taking long walks on the beach and tracking bad guys when he’s at work. When he’s off duty, he enjoys playing ball and chewing on things that shouldn’t be chewed on.
