Ben Peterson, OIF Veteran and Founder of the Heroes Honor Festival, returned from the war in Iraq to an experience that shaped his work today. He was personally welcomed home by a squad of Vietnam veterans, who themselves were met with an unwelcome when they returned home from war. This show of honor left an indelible mark on Peterson, and inspired him to found the nonprofit organization Engage Your Destiny.
EYD has a mission to build spiritual resilience in the men and women of the United States Armed Forces by focusing on engaging active military, veterans and their families through digital and in-person experiences.
Engage Your Destiny’s mission is to bring honor, help and healing to those who have served.
Peterson is now the visionary behind Heroes Honor Festival happening May 27-28 at the Daytona International Speedway, which is giving Vietnam veterans the long-overdue celebration they deserve.
Listen to Maverick & Lulu talk to this true American Hero and talk his love of our country, our Veterans, their families.. and about why he founded this event, listen here...
As the Proud Son of a Vietnam Veteran.. I am so happy that this American Hero, is honoring our Vietnam Veterans. I just wish my Dad could be there... although, I know he is looking down from Heaven and seeing it all....
In case you did not know, Vietnam Veterans, for the most part, were not welcomes back home, after serving our country. Many were yelled at, spit at or worse. In t=fact, my Dad and his team were told, he may not be a good idea to wear their military uniform, when arriving back home,
