St. Armands Circle Hosting "Family Day" Once a Month - Starting This Sunday

Keep your kids engaged and learning this summer with Family Days on St. Armands Circle. This free event series is focused on kids, parents and fun.

St. Armands Family Day will create fun, family-friendly activities and entertainment with unique twists and themes all summer long. This monthly program series will be hosted within the Circle’s iconic and accessible outdoor activity spaces on the last Sunday of each month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This month, on Jun. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., representatives from Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium will be out on the Circle passing out education materials, answering questions and leading activities focused on sea turtle nesting on the Florida Suncoast. This kid-focused popup will help kids of all ages (and parents) discover the unique characteristics of sea turtles, their nesting habits and what is being done to preserve this endangered species. Between learning sessions, kids can color, enjoy crafts and enjoy the unique sounds of nearby, live steel drum performances.

Future St. Armands Family Day programs are scheduled to be held on July 25, August 29, and September 26.

More About Mote Marine:

We are scientists, explorers and stewards of the ocean. Focused on research and education, we work to create a better environment for ourselves and our children. The answers are in the ocean. Together, we will find them.

We are an independent, nonprofit marine research institution comprising world-class marine scientists committed to the belief that the conservation and sustainable use of our oceans begins with research and education.

From our humble beginnings in a tiny, one-room laboratory in a small Florida town, our efforts have grown to include more than 20 diverse marine research programs.

Originally focused on sharks, our research has expanded to include studies of human cancer using marine models, the effects of human-made and natural toxic substances on humans and on the environment, the health of wild fisheries, developing sustainable and successful fish restocking techniques and food production technologies and the development of ocean technology to help us better understand the health of the environment.

Our research programs also focus on understanding the population dynamics of manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and coral reefs and on conservation and restoration efforts related to these species and ecosystems.

The ocean is our passion. Science is our catalyst to help the ocean heal, thrive and continue to be a haven of sustainable life, life-improving science and life-giving solutions. Learn more at https://mote.org/
