Loyola-Chicago team chaplain Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, who proved to be the highlight of this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, threw out the first pitch at the Chicago Cubs’ home opener at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. The 98-year-old nun posed with members of the Loyola-Chicago basketball team before being rolled out to the pitcher’s mound in her wheelchair and throwing an underhanded pitch in front of a packed house. She was also given a custom-made Cubs jersey and wore a Cubs windbreaker coat to brave the cold weather. The Cubs ended up losing 8-5 to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
