Federal Lawsuit Challenges Florida's Anti-Riot Law

A controversial new law in Florida is being challenged.

On Monday Governor Desantis signed legislation that levies harsher punishments on people accused of violent rioting and creates a new crime called mob intimidation

A federal lawsuit has been filed challenging the anti-riot bill.

A civil rights nonprofit called the Lawyers Matter Task Force filing the suit against the governor, attorney general and Orange County's sheriff.

The suit claims the new law strips Floridians of their freedom of speech.

The governor says peaceful protests are still legal, but says violence is not going to happen in Florida.
