Original Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron will not be returning to the role he's had for 15 years, and co-host Erin Andrews, who's been with the show since 2014, has also been let go,USA Today reports. Bergeron tweeted Monday that ABC informed him he wasn't being asked back for the show's 29th season. "It's been an incredible 15-year run and the most unexpected gift of my career," Bergeron wrote. "I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?" He added, "On the plus side, now I'm free for our socially distanced lunch!" ABC announced in a statement that both Bergeron and Andrews are being replaced due to the show's "creative new direction." Bergeron was loudly critical of the show's decision to cast Trump spokesman Sean Spicer last season, saying he had been originally assured they would not cast the polarizing political figure. The network did not say when replacements would be named.
