NBA Suspends Regular Season

The NBA has suspended the 2019-2020 regular season until further notice after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday night. According toUSA Today, the Jazz were in Oklahoma City to play the Thunder on Wednesday, but officials pulled the plug on the game sometime after the teams took the court, but before tipoff. The Thunder's public service announcer said "due to unforeseen circumstances the game has been postponed" before asking fans to leave. Thunder broadcasters said on the air that the delay was because of an illness related to Gobert, although ESPN was also told that Gobert was never at the arena on Wednesday. Players from both teams are reportedly being quarantined at Oklahoma City's arena. Earlier this week, Gobert had made light of the coronavirus epidemic by touching all the microphones at a press event. In a statement, the league said it "will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.'' The NBA is expected to address next steps with teams on Thursday.
