In a surprise twist, 38-year-old Clare Crawley--who competed on The Bachelorway back in 2014--has just been named the next star of The Bachelorette. Us Weekly notes that Crawley will be the oldest Bachelorette in the franchise's history; before her, the oldest was 32-year-old Rachel Lindsay when she starred on the 13th season of the show in 2017. “I feel like a lot of people put [age] out there as this negative thing, but for me, it just is more years under my belt, more learning and knowing what I want, what I don’t want, and what I won’t settle for,” Crawley said on Monday's Good Morning America. After Crawley came in second on Juan Pablo Galavis' season ofThe Bachelor,she went looking for love on the first two seasons ofBachelor in Paradise,then competed onThe Bachelor Winter Gamesin 2018. She met and ultimately got engaged to Bachelorette Canada‘s Benoit Beausejour-Savard before they split in April 2018. A premiere date for Crawley's season ofThe Bachelorettehas yet to be revealed--and Crawley said onGMAthat she only found out she'd be the next Bachelorette a couple days ago.
