When kindergarten student Kiki Hardee of Vista, California, learned that some of her classmates were behind on their lunch payments, she decided to take action by opening a cocoa and cookie stand to help out.
But, Kiki didn’t just raise enough money selling goodies to wipe out the debt at her own school. Instead, she raised more than $7,000, enough to pay off the lunch debt for every student in the entire school district.
Her efforts have had even more far-reaching effects, as other kids in her community are now stepping up, with plans to plant trees and feed the homeless -- among other things -- showing that kindness can be contagious.
