U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Bill White, is 104. He was in Iwo Jima when soldiers raised the U.S. flag over Mt. Surabachi. Shortly after that decisive victory during WWII, White was wounded by a grenade that detonated near him. He was later awarded the Purple Heart.

White is so well thought of at his senior living center that his friends asked on social media for the community to send him Valentine’s Day card.
