Las Vegas To Let People Pay for Parking Tickets With a Food Donation

The Las Vegas city council announced Wednesday that anyone who gets a parking ticket in the city between October 16 and November 16 can pay their fine with a food donation.

The council unanimously approved the idea in the hopes of accumulating food to help those in need during the upcoming holiday season. The new rule only applies to tickets that didn't threaten public safety, and the donations have to be non-perishable goods of equal or greater value than the fine.

They also must be paid within 30 days of the citation date.

All food collected will be given to Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, which assists low-income and disabled seniors.
