"Old Town Road' Sparks Breakthrough For Mostly Nonverbal Autistic Boy

A four-year-old Minnesota boy with autism recently had a major breakthrough, and it's all thanks to the very catchy hit "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Daniel Brundidge is mostly non-verbal and, according to his mother, Sheletta, has never strung together even three or four words. But when the mega hit came on the radio, Daniel suddenly started singing along.

Sheletta says, "It was just a hum at first. I was like, 'Oh my god, he's singing 'Old Town Road.'" She says she broke down in tears and grabbed her phone to capture it on video.

The song has become a useful tool for Sheletta to connect with her son and she says she's working with his therapists to figure out of there are any other songs that could have a similar effect
