In Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, nine-year-old Mariah Weiss used her birthday party to raise $600 for the K-9 program at her local police department. The officers were thankful and hung a plaque at the station in her honor.
This might have been the end of the story, except Mariah had her softball equipment stolen not long after visiting with the officers.
They heard about the situation, and decided to make things right by taking Mariah shopping and replacing the equipment.
Because Mariah is a catcher, she needs extra gear to play, which can be expensive.
That didn’t matter. The officers were able to help her get back into the game, taking advantage of an opportunity to help a girl who went out of her way to help her community.
