RETIRED DOCTOR SAVES TRUCK DRIVER’S LIFE

RETIRED DOCTOR SAVES TRUCK DRIVER’S LIFE

During his retirement, Doctor Hank Ottens of Grand Haven Township, Michigan, has made a habit of going for a bike ride each morning. Recently, for no good reason, he chose to take a different route back home during his morning ride.

This was a bit of good luck for trucker Jim Young -- because Hank was in the right place at the right time to save Jim’s life.

Hank was stopped at an intersection when he heard a semi-truck attempting to slow down. That truck swerved off the road and into the grass.

It didn’t take long for Hank to discover that Jim had suffered a heart attack.

Hank, a retired orthopedic surgeon, was helped by two other men to pull Jim’s lifeless body from the cab. From there, Hank started performing CPR.

Hank was able to keep Jim stable until paramedics showed up and rushed Jim to the hospital.

Thanks to Hank’s quick thinking -- and some random good luck -- Jim is now out of the hospital and recovering.
