A 15-year-old girl is being praised for her show of compassion to a fellow passenger on board an Alaska Airlines flight last week.
Clara Daly was traveling with her mom on the Boston to Los Angeles flight when she encountered a deaf and blind man named Tim Cook, who was traveling alone.
Flight attendants had been trying to communicate with Cook to make sure he was as comfortable as possible, but were having trouble. So they got on the loudspeaker and asked if anyone on the plane knew American sign language. That's when Clara came forward. She had been studying sign language for the past year and immediately offered to help.
Clara spent time with Cook signing into his hand. She was able to get him water when he wanted it and just spent time talking to him. She says, "We talked about our family in Massachusetts and he asked me about my plans for my future."
A flight attendant later said, "Clara was amazing. You could tell Tim was very excited to have someone he could speak to and she was such an angel."
After the flight, Cook reportedly told the airline it was the best flight he had ever taken.
