For the third year in a row, students in Bellingham, Massachusetts, are spending some time this spring putting together backpacks filled with supplies for the needy.
Organizers of this "Backpack Drive" bring together eighth grade students to fill donated backpacks with such things as medical supplies, soap, socks and bottled water.
Their goal this year is to give away 125 of the backpacks, with some being delivered to the homeless in Washington, D.C., as part of a class trip, and others going to homeless shelters in Boston.
The kids are excited to see this charity effort grow year after year, but are also motivated to do as much as possible because the class that brings in the most backpacks gets an ice cream party at the end of the year.
