Find A Coin On A Headstone? Don't Touch, Here's Why...

I've seen this a few times times at our Sarasota National Cemetery and at other cemeteries, in the past. I once even saw it on my Father's headstone at Sarasota National.  Coins left atop grave markers. There's a very special reason why these were left and it's completely disrespectful to touch the coins. Here's why. It's a tradition... from those who served with the Hero, to strangers who never knew the deceased hero... they leave coins to "pay their respects. This tradition goes back centuries.
