8 Year Old Girl From Bradenton Recognized for Saving Dad's Life

The Red Cross of Central Florida presented 8 year-old Peyton Parker with their “Lifesaving Award.”

In early January, 2022 at their Bradenton home, Peyton’s dad began choking on food.

After a previous scary food choking incident with her little brother. Her Mom, Tabitha Parker decided her older daughter, Peyton (8 years old), should know the life-saving Heimlich maneuver technique. She taught her what to do if someone was choking on their food.

That was just a few weeks before the New Year, and January of 2022... and as it turns out the timing was perfect.

Sunday morning (January 9, 2022) Parker's boyfriend, Michael Langston was home with the 2 kids, playing videos games in the living room while Peyton and her little brother, Keegan played around the house.

Peyton was just seconds away from jumping into life-saving mode and she didn't even know it.

A living room surveillance camera caught what happened, see that below. .

Michael took a bite of his sandwich and instantly, he couldn't breathe. The food was caught.

As you can see in the video, littler Keegan is seen running to get his big sister to help. Michael follows and then 8 year old Peyton jumped into action.

She quickly wrapped her arms around him and thrusted twice, then the food came out.

Mom Tabitha is a paramedic in Manatee County and was at work when it happened.

The Red Cross has awarded hundreds of these awards across the nation
